Abstract.
Problems arising on ethnic-social basis are generally fragmented, and authorities intensify their efforts to resolve them in the periods of aggravation. This is not the last thing that is explained by the lack of unity concerning the definition of national and ethnic processes nature. The article deals with theoretical-methodological approaches to the research of ethno-sociological problems. The author attempts to explain on her own the reasons for the lack of unity in the determination of national-ethnic processes character and understanding the nation as a social phenomenon.
