TOWN PLANNING SETTLEMENT OF RIVERSIDE TERRITORIES OF THE MIDDLE VOLGA REGION IN THE GOLDEN HORDE PERIOD OF THE XIII-XIV CENTURIES

Abstract. In the article the historical period of the XIII-XIV centuries, when the territory of the Middle Volga region was a part of the Golden Horde, is analyzed. The town planning phase of the Volga region development, which was carried out by the Golden Horde khans with the purpose of control over the seized territories and the restoration of international trade links, is singled out. The architectural-planning peculiarities of the settlements of the Golden Horde period in the Middle Volga region are identified. The main types and peculiarities of ancient settlements and big villages building are revealed. The author comes to the conclusion about the prevailing type of settlement in riverside territories at Samara Bend, the left bank of the Volga and the riverside areas of the Kondurcha, Sok, Bol'shoi and Malyi Kinel' rivers.
