Abstract.
The article is devoted to the problem of the analysis and interpretation of modern artworks. The author compares the viewpoints of various scientists on the basic problems connected with the analysis of modern artworks. The paper identifies difficulties appearing under the study of monuments, accentuates the distinction of the concepts “analysis” and “interpretation”. Special attention is paid to the role of the personality of an art critic - investigator as a co-creator because his/her professional vigilance will influence not only the viewer’s perception of a modern artwork but also the existence of an artist him(her)self in the world of art.
