Abstract.
The article is devoted to events that took place in Xinjiang in the first half of the 1930s and connected with the national liberation movement of the indigenous peoples in the region. Special attention is paid to the armed struggle of the Uygurs and the Dungans (Hui) with the Chinese government. The work deals with the causes and premises of the movement and the factors of its defeat. The national movement of the peoples of Xinjiang in the 1930s took place in the conditions of the worsening of ethno-political and ethno-social contradictions and was of great importance both in the history of China and in the sphere of regional international relations.
