Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the process of the translation and transmutation of semiotic information within the framework of the system “man - environment”. The stratification of the information and semiotic field of the system under consideration performed by the authors allows creating a model of culture space and basing on it revealing the regularities of aesthetic value formation. According to the authors, the proposed approach to the study of the ontological processes of culture space can serve as a methodological tool in the development of “aesthetic unit” in architectural design.
