Abstract. The article examines the creative activity of theaters within the territory of Orenburg region. The paper identifies the specific features and problems of the functioning of the investigated institutions in the epoch of “full-fledged socialism”. The author analyzes the repertoire policy of the theaters, characterizes the peculiarities of touring, forms and methods for servicing rural audience.
