Abstract.
The article basing on the analysis of the materials of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Dagestan considers the proceedings of Baku military garrison in 1723-1735. It was the time when the Russian military garrison was located in Baku, and it was stationed as a result of the Persian campaign of Peter I. According to the study of documents, the commandant of Baku had the fullness of both military and civil authority within the territory under his control. However, final decision on criminal cases was held by the generals of the Lower (Persian) Corps.
