Abstract.
The article considers the influence of religious beliefs on the formation of gender relations in the culture of the Buryats: reveals the sacred significance of the man and the woman, conditions the role of patriarchal bans, Buddhist and Christian traditions in the life of the family and relative collective. The author mentions that shamanic traditions, Buddhism and Christianity largely determined the character and world view of the people, contributed to the collaborative experience of communication between the representatives of different cultures, and corrected sexual relationships.
