Abstract.
The article touches on the necessity for the theoretical understanding of the problem of the civility of human being and society considered as a multidimensional and multi-variant sociocultural phenomenon with different versions and codifications of its historical meaning and mission. The paper also analyzes the initial methodological principles of such investigations. Special attention is paid to the problem of the civility of the Russians and the Russian society on the whole permanently arising in mass media at home and abroad.
