Abstract.
In the article the life and activity of the landlords in the country estate Esiplevo of Kineshma district of Kostroma province in the XIX - at the beginning of the XX century are studied, the change of the estate owners and the transfer of the estate from the Nozhnevs to the Strugovshchikovs and the Kalachovs noblemen are analyzed. Such interests and hobbies of the Strugovschikovs-Kalachovs as collecting works of art and the creation of unique family library are noted. The tutorial activity of noblemen in Esiplevo and its influence on the development of the cultural and educational level of the peasants are considered. Previously unknown sources of personal origin are introduced into scientific use.
