CARL CZERNY AS INNOVATOR OF PIANO DUET GENRE

Abstract. In the article the creativity of Carl Czerny in the genre of piano ensemble is considered in the wide context of the history of the clavier music of the XVIII-XIX centuries. Special attention is drawn to four-handed sonatas for piano. The author analyzes the innovation of the composer in the style of piano duet, gives the artistic and aesthetic estimation of the works, and determines the place of sonatas in the history of piano duet genre. Issues connected with the interpretation of the considered works are studied.
