OCCULT SYMBOLISM IN “GOTHIC” SUBCULTURE OF RUSSIA

Abstract. “Gothic” subculture is an integral part of the modern Russian culture, and therefore the issue of the study of its symbolism becomes especially topical. The article is devoted to the basic occult symbolism popular in “Gothic” subculture of Russia. The characteristic of typical symbols, the history of their origin, use and value for the representatives of “Gothic” subculture are presented. The author pays particular attention to the stereotypes of “gothic” world view considering them in close relationship with occult symbolism.
