Abstract.
In the article the peculiarities of interethnic communication in modern multicultural society are considered, the characteristic of ethnic identity is given, the role of ethnic culture and the language of international communication is revealed. It is noted that the culture of interethnic interaction, which should be formed in educational process, is of great importance. The functions of the humanities in the process of ethnic identity formation and intercultural communication optimization are shown.
