PROBLEMS OF TURKEY’S INTEGRATION INTO THE EUROPEAN UNION IN THE MODERN AMERICAN HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract. In the article the analysis of the main approaches developed by the US scientific and political community concerning the process of Turkey’s integration into the European Union in the context of the American-Turkish collaboration is conducted. The results of the research allow concluding that the ongoing transformation of political space in the Middle East causes the excessive concern of the American experts and the historical experience of cooperation between the USA and Iran makes the experts focus on the development of the mutually beneficial, from the US point of view, American-Turkish relations so that not to “loose” the changing republic as the key ally in the Middle East.
