Abstract.
In the article the peculiarities of public policy on the development of the Russian Far East are considered. The author analyzes the strategies of demographic development in the region, the role of women and family in this process during the period of industrial development. The analysis of statistics on the male-female population ratio of the Far East in different periods of its settlement and development is given; the measures of the authorities to overcome the negative consequences of gender disparity in the region are characterized.
