SCHOOL FOR THE FAR NORTH: PROBLEMS OF SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION IN YAMAL IN 1958-1966

Abstract.
This article deals with the difficulties of building new schools in the Far North territory during the “thaw” years. The author analyzes how the remoteness of the region from the large industrial centers of the country influenced the organization of the school constructions. Different options for the solution of the problem of new school premises worked through by the authorities of Yamal and their results are studied for the first time. The attempt to understand why the authorities of Yamal concerned seriously about the quality of the constructed school buildings in the considered years is made; on the basis of new sources numerous facts of mismanagement and thefts while constructing the school facilities are revealed.
