Abstract.
The article considers the occupation of Fort Lawton in Seattle, Washington, in 1970 by a group of the Native Americans, and the press reaction to this event. The author conducts a comparative analysis of different views of the print media on the described event in order to reveal the dominant position. Basing on the presented sources the conclusions are made about the biased attitude of the press to the public actions of the Native Americans in the United States and the deliberate way of belittling the Indian’s image in the modern American society.
