ISSUES OF LEGAL REGULATION OF CONTRACT OF AFFREIGHTMENT OF GOODS

Abstract. The article deals with the issues devoted to the legislation on affreightment of goods. The author analyzes the problems of the development and unification of maritime law as appeared earlier than other branches of law of shipping. The problems of the contractual regulation of affreightment of goods both in line and tramp shipping, as well as the issues of forming the catalogues of exceptions from the liability of the carrier are considered; the limits of the pecuniary liability of the carrier provided by maritime conventions are shown. On the basis of the conducted analysis of maritime conventions the author comes to the conclusion about the ways to improve the existing legislation on affreightment of goods.
