Abstract.
The aim of the research is to reveal factors that determined the diversification of the economic development of the Baltic countries in the post-Soviet period. Particular attention is paid to the factors of historical and political nature. The article proposes an explanatory model of the determinants of the influence of economic development, within the frames of which cause and effect relationships between historical, cultural, political and economic factors are specified.
