FUNERAL LAMENTATIONS OF RUSSIAN POPULATION OF THE VOLGA-TERESHKA VALLEY OF SARATOV VOLGA REGION

Abstract. The article examines the typology of the funeral lamentations of the Russian population of the Volga-Tereshka valley of Saratov Volga region and is the first experience of ethno-musicological interpretation. The author introduces the classification of lamentations, considers the typical prosodic models, reveals their structural and typological peculiarities at the level of the rhythmical and pitch organization of the tunes. The chronological frameworks of the research cover the beginning of the XX - the first decade of the XXI century, which is determined by the availability of factual basis. The relevance of the theme is conditioned by common funeral lamentation tradition and by the fact that the genre is almost unexplored within the analyzed territory.
