CATEGORIES OF TRAUMA AND OBLIVION IN THE CONCEPTION OF ARTISTIC AND HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE OF F. R. ANKERSMIT

Abstract.
The article studies the nature of the phenomenon of oblivion in the conception of “intellectual empiricism” by F. R. Ankersmit. Four types of oblivion are constituted, the paradox of which is that oblivion is just as important for the formation of identity as memory. The author considers the types of traumatic experience and their compliance with a certain type of oblivion, other conceptions of memory, in particular, the conception of “place of memory” by P. Nora, and formulates relevant issues for the future prospects of studying the problem of historical experience and memory.
