SEMANTIC “ROOTS” OF NOMADISM

Abstract.
In the article the etymological analysis of the concept “nomadism” (“nomad”) is conducted. Its linguistic evolution is examined, which is revealed while studying the works of Western-European authors. The semantic and socio-cultural dynamics of the notion “nomos” as a principle of distribution on smooth surface is examined. The interaction of “nomos” with the oppositional concept “polis” that reflects the principle of the demarcation of corrugated space is analyzed. Presumptions, which allow speaking about the man of postmodernity as a “nomad”, bearer of the ideology of “nomadism” (global nomadism), are revealed.
