Abstract.
The article is devoted to the description of the phenomenon of the so-called Danubian Horseman, which is still little-studied in Russian historiography. The source base, which includes stone and metal tablets with the picture of the horseman, is characterized briefly. The author identifies the key problems that the researchers of the monuments of the Danubian Horseman face, considers the main points of view of historians on the issue of the origin and significance of the cult, and emphasizes difficulties connected with the interpretation of iconography.
