THE OFFICIALDOM OF NIGERIA ON THE THRESHOLD AND IN THE FIRST DECADES AFTER THE ACHIEVEMENT OF INDEPENDENCE

Abstract. In the article the history of the formation of the social and professional group of the officialdom on the threshold and in the first two decades of the independence of Nigeria is analyzed. It is ascertained that the determinative component of this process was the Africanization of the administrative apparatus, which was conducted on the basis of the replacement of the expatriate employees by the local administrative and executive staff. The author describes the composition of new managers, their educational level, status and position structure and the effectiveness of their practical activity.
