Abstract.
The article examines the basic directions and results of the scientific activity of the well-known scholar - the Caucasus researcher, Doctor in History, Professor M. S. Totoev. The author evaluates the contribution of the scholar to the development of historical science in the North Caucasus positively. At the same time she thinks it necessary while analyzing the scholar’s scientific heritage to consider the historical and political context, in which his works on the history and culture of the peoples of the North Caucasus were created.
