Abstract.
The authors of the article attempt to examine special types of a “social mask”: the masks of spiritual world. The idea of classifying the masks of spiritual world into the masks of the subject and the masks of society is advanced as one of the most significant ideas of the paper. Fantasy and utopia are interpreted as the modi of consciousness presented as the “masks of liberation”. The mentioned types of a social mask are shown in their difference and similarity. The topicality of the work is in the philosophical comprehending of one of the functions of the phenomenon of a social mask: the “function of catharsis”.
