LEGISLATIVE REGULATION OF LIFE ACTIVITY OF THE MUSLIMS OF WESTERN SIBERIA IN THE XVII-XVIII CENTURIES

Abstract.
On the basis of legislative acts the article considers the position of the Russian state in relation to the Muslims of Western Siberia in the XVII-XVIII centuries. In the XVII century the government carried out the policy of liberal attitude towards religion among the Western Siberian Tatars and Bukharans. The energetic activity on the Christianization of the Muslims with the use of a nonviolent form began in the first quarter of the XVIII century. The activity of the Muslims was limited by legal acts, which testifies for the various statuses of Orthodoxy and Islam in Western Siberia.
