ROLE OF KNOWLEDGE IN INFORMATION SOCIETY

Abstract. The article analyses the role of knowledge (information) in the society of developed countries invariably called the information one. The formation of this society is connected with the development of information technologies and a supposedly new role of knowledge (information) in the life of society. A number of facts are stated, which don’t conform with this opinion, and, according to the author, convincing arguments in favour of the fact that the role of knowledge in this society remains the same as in previous epochs are given.
