Abstract. The article examines the debatable theme of the dialectics of scientific and non-scientific knowledge. The author conducts the categorical differentiation of these two components of the cumulative knowledge of humanity. An example of the successful co-existence of scientific and non-scientific knowledge in the framework of one theoretical system is philosophy. Differentiation between academic philosophy and non-academic philosophy is made. The main statements of the paper are reasoned by examples from the history of Russian philosophy.
