Abstract.
The article discovers the history of the creation and activity of the commission to review the archive of Turkestan Department for Protecting Public Security and Order. The commission aimed to detect the former gendarmes of the Department, the secret agents and to make a decision on every identified case. The paper is written on the basis of the analysis of archival sources from the funds of Uzbekistan Central State Archive: minutes of the commission meetings, special resolutions on certain cases, personal evidences of the “former” employees of the Department.
