Abstract.
The article brings up the problem of responsibility in the system of social management. The notion, content and extent of responsibility are defined, its historical character is revealed. The role of the social responsibility of a state to the society in the conditions of the contemporary “society of risk” is emphasized. The criteria of the social responsibility of a state to the society before and after the realization of assumed risk are singled out.
