Tat'yana Evgen'evna Nerovnaya
Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory (Academy) named after M. I. Glinka

Submitted: February 1, 2016
Abstract. In the centre of the presented article a creative portrait of the Russian composer, performer, scientist and pedagogue Pavel Fyodorovich Juon is given and his diversified activity in Russia and abroad is re-created for the first time. The biographic reconstruction is made on the basis of source-study work with letters, diaries, musical-critical articles from the fund of the composer (Fonds Paul Juon), which is stored in The Cantonal and University Library of Lausanne (Switzerland). The idea of wandering is examined in the paper not only as a historical and geographical notion that became the determinative one for the musician’s life, but also as a conceptual component of his creative process.
