Abstract. The article examines the concept of religious identity as one of the topical forms of an individual’s self-identification in the conditions of globalization. The significance of religious identity in the context of strengthening the influence of new regions in cross-cultural space is revealed. The author describes religious identity using the approach of cultural mosaic, analyzing the role of the religious factor in the perspective of regional development. The possibility of creating the conceptions of religious identity alternative to the western construct and the most efficient for the solution of global problems is shown.
