“REPORTS AND VERDICTS OCCURRED IN THE GOVERNING SENATE” AS AN AVAILABLE SOURCE ON LOCAL DEPARTMENT HISTORY OF 1710-1716

Abstract.
The article studies the Governing Senate’s reports and verdicts on the issues of landownership. The author analyzes several tens of such verdicts paying special attention to the problem of changing the Local Department’s territorial jurisdiction according to the edict from February, 9, 1710. Materials on 16 towns prescribed to be the jurisdiction of provinces and excluded from the Local Department’s jurisdiction were under study. The paper focuses on certain aspects of the Local Department’s personnel in 1710 and explores how law charges on investigated local and patrimonial cases were gathered in provinces.
