ROLE OF THE FILM “FOUR AROUND THE WOMAN” (1920) IN THE ARTISTIC WORLD FORMATION OF THE FILM DIRECTOR FRITZ LANG

Abstract.
The article examines the artistic peculiarities of the film by Fritz Lang “Four around the Woman”. The author shows the evolution of the film director’s creative style towards greater realism, analyzes the relation between this film and subsequent Lang’s classical works, discovers expressionism features typical for the film (the motive of dualism, the somnambulist image). Special attention is paid to the female image development in Lang’s early creative work - from active, energetic heroines of the first films to passive, bored Florence, the film heroine, in whose image satiric features are clearly visible.
