SPORTS DIPLOMACY OF QATAR IN THE 2000S AS A TOOL OF FOREIGN POLICY

Abstract.
This article is devoted to sports diplomacy as a special phenomenon in international relations. By the example of Qatar policy in the field of sports in the 2000s the authors analyze the possibilities of sports diplomacy and come to the conclusion that sport can be used not only as one of the tools of the creation of the positive image of the state, but also allows implementing long term strategic interests related to the modernization of the country and national security.
