GENDER AND SEX OF A HUMAN BEING

Abstract.
In science in the study of the problems of human sex such approach as sexual dimorphism dominated for a long time. In the middle of the XX century the approach of sexual symbolism acquired relevance, in the framework of which the notion of “gender” appeared. The article concludes that there’s a necessity of the synthesis of two opposite approaches to the study of sexual problems - sexual dimorphism and sexual symbolism. The author also presents tendencies reflecting the relations of sexes in the modern society.
