DEVELOPMENT SPECIFICS AND EVOLUTION OF B. S. UGAROV’S STYLE IN GENRE PAINTING

Abstract.
The article is devoted to studying the creative heritage of B. S. Ugarov (1922-1991), the People’s Artist of the USSR, the full-fledged member and President of the USSR Academy of Arts (1983-1991). Analyzing the whole corpus of B. S. Ugarov’s genre paintings the author identifies cardinal stylistic differences between pictures created in different time periods. The sharp change of the author’s style occurred in the second half of the 1950s - plasticity ceased to be the central problem of visual art for the painter.
