GROWTH AND SIZE DYNAMICS OF WESTERN SIBERIA RURAL SETTLEMENTS IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX - THE FIRST THIRD OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The article describes the developmental peculiarities of Western Siberia settlement areas, which included Beryozov, Surgut and Tobolsk districts/uyezds. The paper traces changes in the size and quantity of Russian and aboriginal settlements in historical dynamics, makes a comparison of the acquired data with analogous data on certain southern administrative and territorial units of the West Siberian region. The author emphasizes the typical uniformity of northern settlements in comparison with the settlement areas of the southern part of the region.
