Abstract.
The article analyzes the results of implementing the resolutions of the CPSU Central Committee and the USSR Council of Ministers of the 1980s in relation to registering the indigenous peoples of the North by the example of one of the habitation areas of the Yakut people - Nizhnekolymsky district. To conclude with, the author proposes to use the experience of registering the indigenous peoples of the North in the 1980s to restore official statistics in relation to indigenous peoples.
