THE ASIAN LIKE A STRANGER: SOME CASES OF AMERICAN HISTORY

Abstract.
This article analyzes the image of an Asian in the USA mass culture, as well as historical facts that contributed to its formation. By the example of various evidential materials demonstrating stereotypes fixed in mass consciousness the author shows that not only Asians but also Asian Americans are often perceived as strangers. The analysis of cinematograph helped to trace the dynamics of the image during the XX century and highlight the most typical Asian’s features in the USA mass culture.
