Abstract.
The article is devoted to Edvard Grieg’s orchestral compositions. In particular, the paper carries out musical analysis, reveals the contents and determines the place of the last orchestral composition in the composer’s creative work - “Symphonic Dances”. The author focuses on significant historical meaning of Grieg’s opus, who created the original genre composition. The name of the cycle determined by Grieg for his last orchestral score for the first time was confirmed in artistic practice and opened a number of works similar in the genre part of compositions.
