INTERNAL POLICY OF MARGARET THATCHER’S CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT (1987-1990)

Abstract. The article considers internal policy of Margaret Thatcher’s Conservative government from 1987 till 1990. Changes that were made by the Conservative government on the program of internal towns renewal, in the sphere of taxation, and in the social sphere are analyzed. The results of internal policy of M. Thatcher’s Conservative cabinet, which caused a wave of public outrage and criticism, are shown. The author comes to the conclusion that in the course of Thatcher’s directives implementation the problems that subsequently led to a crisis in Conservative policy had been revealed.
