Abstract. The publication is devoted to one of the symbols of the weapon of the Soviet Union victory in the Great Patriotic War - the rocket launchers BM-8 and BM-13 “Katyusha” - and evaluation of their use within the Southwest operational team of Guards mortar units in October 1941 - January 1942. The author publishes a declassified document from the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation “Summary of Rockets Application in the Southwestern Front” for the first time.
