SPECIFICITY OF FINANCIAL SERVICE ORGANIZATION IN BYZANTIUM DURING THE REIGN OF MICHAEL VIII AND ANDRONIKOS II PALAIOLOGOI

Abstract. The article reveals some aspects of specificity of social-political essence of the state system of central administration during the period of reorganization of the state apparatus by the example of the Byzantine Empire of the early Palaiologos period (1261-1328). The researcher concludes on characteristic features and functions of financial service. The author focuses on the issue of the organization of the vestiarius and sakelion. It is ascertained that a person raised to the rank of mesadzon was endowed with competence of various services including competences of the logothetes tou genikou and the great logothetes, who lost their official power.
