LEV SHESTOV’S PHILOSOPHY OF CREATIVITY

Abstract. This paper provides an analysis of philosophy of creativity developed by L. Shestov, for the first time shows its complexity and metaphysical depth, which in the main aspect is oriented towards the highest freedom facing the God. According to Shestov, to get closer to faith and the very thoughts of the God, a man must already have great creative boldness capable of snatching him/her from the fetters of mind and necessity, from the fetters of “this world”. The article shows that, despite the paradox, the main obstacle on the path to true creativity, according to Shestov, is human mind itself - artificial constructivism serving ordinary human survival goals rather than an inquiring look into depths of the universe.
