Abstract.
The article deals with problems of development of gas industry and gasification in Saratov in the 1940s. The paper shows difficulties faced by the fuel and energy complex of the region in the war and postwar years of economy recovery. The analysis of significance and role of natural gas in energy balance and for the economy of the city and the region in the 1940s is carried out. The author concentrates on gasification of manufacturing processes of enterprises and housing-communal services of the city.
