REVISION OF WARKWORTH’S CHRONICLE IN CONTEMPORARY ENGLISH HISTORIOGRAPHY

Abstract. The article analyzes scientific works of modern British researchers on problems of criticism of sources related to events of the second half of the XV century in England. Particular attention is paid to characteristic of Warkworth’s chronicle in connection with attempts to revise traditional assessment of this source. The author traces different opinions of British researchers about nature of relationship between two manuscripts of the chronicle, authorship and place of its preparation. The paper presents a detailed analysis of Warkworth’s chronicle, as well as marks debatable issues concerning external criticism of the source.
