PROTECTION OF THE FAR EASTERN STATE BORDER BY POPULATION OF THE NEAR-BORDER TERRITORIES AND BORDER GUARDS IN THE PREWAR YEARS (1939 - THE BEGINNING OF 1941)

Abstract. The article presents results of the author’s study of the funds of the State Archives of Khabarovsk Region. The paper introduces new sources, which enable to broaden knowledge on activity of the regional authorities of the party and soviet power aimed at attraction of population of the near-border areas for protection of the Far Eastern state border, into scientific use. Data on contribution of the population are considered against the background of everyday service of the frontier guards in the conditions of the tense political situation of the prewar years.
