Abstract.
The article is devoted to the compositions by Edison Denisov “Requiem”, “History of Life and Death of Our Lord Jesus Christ”, which represent the composer’s dialogue with the Catholic mass, Passions traditions, the heritage of Orthodox liturgical music. The compositions are examined in the general context of revived interest for spiritual genres in the domestic music of the last decades of the XX century that is described by the terms “new religious movement”, “new sacred music”, “musica sacra nova”.
